Key Event

In this talk, we’ll explore the world of abstract math as a modern mathematician sees it: not as some sea of equations and computation, but instead as an exciting collaborative adventure into the unknown.  We’ll discuss what exactly pure math is and how it relates to art and poetry, see some beautiful examples of cutting-edge research, and (hopefully!) get a feeling for what makes it so fun.  Folks of all backgrounds are warmly invited to attend, and the speaker promises to leave everyone with plenty of satisfying math puzzles to play around with at home.
