Lecture Title: Nature & Value
Brief description: Many of us are drawn to the view that natural objects—species and their environments, for example—have an intrinsic value that in no way depends on human interests or preferences. Professor Winkler, Kingman Brewster, Jr. Professor of Philosophy and Acting Chair of Philosophy, will explore the history of this way of thinking and consider some of the difficulties it raises.
No prior registration is required to attend, however, due to capacity limits seats are available on a first-come-first-serve basis.
